What do you love most about what you do?
Learning about lots of things - people, technology, business - is always useful to an architect, so I give myself permission to be a voracious student.
What does your business do better than anyone else?
There are some really good architects in this area, so this is awkward. I take special pride in three things: (1) creating buildings that make people happy to be inside them because the design/layout works, (2) detailing the most energy efficient building envelop my clients can afford, and (3) understanding the value of collaboration - with my clients, other designers, and builders.
What do you wish you could change?
I wish HGTV would be more like Antiques Roadshow, and I wish more people knew what to tell window replacement salesmen (the environmental cost/benefits do NOT add up! ... google "embodied energy"). Instead of approaching buildings with sledgehammers, I wish we could recognize that always needing things to be new has significant environmental costs.

I have always loved making things! Home-making things like sewing and knitting, cooking and gardening, but also some furniture-building. I am happiest when I'm figuring something out.
